To protect yourself from the cost of emergency medical treatment, you have two options, Plan A or Plan B.
Plan A
Plan A does not provide coverage for pre-existing medical conditions for which medication has been taken, received or prescribed and/or treatment has been received in the 180 days before the effective date of insurance .
Family coverage is available for Plan A up to age 54.
Plan B
Plan B provides coverage for your stable (within 180 days before the effective date of insurance) pre-existing medical conditions.
Deductible savings are available for both plans.
Emergency Medical Benefits
These emergency medical benefits* are covered:
- Emergency medical attention received in or out of hospital
- Coverage for paramedical services due to covered risk, up to $300 by profession
- Ambulance transportation
- Emergency dental treatment
- Expenses related to death
- Repatriation home due to a medical emergency
- Additional expenses for meals and hotel
- Visit to bedside if travelling alone
- Childcare expenses
- Return Home of Children
- Trip Break

If you have pre-paid travel arrangements and want to protect yourself if your trip is interrupted, this insurance is available for purchase with all plans and provides coverage for an individual trip.
Trip Interruption Benefits
- Up to $1,500 for Single Coverage and $5,000 for Family Coverage
- Reimbursement of prepaid portion of the trip that is non-refundable and non-transferable to another travel date if your trip is interrupted due to a covered event
Highlights Of Covered Events:
- Your or your travel companion's, medical condition or death;
- Your or your travel companion's immediate family member's, medical condition or death;
- Admittance to a hospital in an emergency or the death of the person whose guest you are during your trip

Travel Accident insurance is available for purchase with all plans and provides coverage for an individual trip.
Travel Accident Benefits
- If an accidental bodily injury causes you to die, to become completely and permanently blind in both eyes or to have two limbs fully severed above the wrist or ankle joints, within 365 days of the accident, Manulife Financial will pay $50,000.
- If an accidental bodily injury causes you to become completely and permanently blind in one eye or have one limb fully severed above a wrist or ankle joint, within 365 days of the accident, Manulife Financial will pay $25,000.
- If you have more than one accidental bodily injury during the trip, Manulife Financial will pay the applicable insured sum only for the one accident that entitles you to the largest benefit amount.

The Top-Up option extends your emergency medical coverage on Multi-Trip plans, as below.
- Top-Up coverage must be purchased before your multi-trip plan expires and is subject to an extra premium charge.
- Single-Trip Emergency Medical Plan A is used to top up Multi-Trip Emergency Medical Plan A.
- Single-Trip Emergency Medical Plan B can be used to top-up Multi-Trip Emergency Medical Plan B. Top-ups can be purchased for maximum trip duration of 365 days.

- Premium due is based on:
- The plan purchased;
- The age at the effective date of insurance
- Number of coverage days for Single-Trip plans must include:
- The date of departure;
- The date of return
- The number of days in between.
- Coverage will not take effect if your method of payment is not honoured.
